Ashi Studio Unveils Riyadh Air’s Chic New Cabin Crew Uniforms in Paris

“It’s not cabin crew ‘uniforms,’ it’s cabin crew fashion.”

Riyadh Air, the latest entrant in the aviation industry, is preparing for its maiden flight in mid-2025. The airline aims to link the Saudi capital to over 100 destinations by 2030, offering a travel experience steeped in luxury and sophistication. Setting the stage for its grand inauguration, Riyadh Air has collaborated with renowned Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi of Ashi Studio to create stunning new cabin crew uniforms.

Combining fashion and innovation, Mohammed Ashi, the creative genius behind Ashi Studio, unveiled these uniforms right after his Haute Couture Week show in Paris. The grand reveal has redefined airline fashion, marrying style with practicality.

The event was a dazzling affair in the heart of Paris, where the collection evoked the golden age of aviation with a contemporary twist. “We’ve taken the golden age of aviation and represented it in today’s context; it’s a relevant collection,” Ashi noted at the unveiling. Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, added, “It’s not cabin crew ‘uniforms,’ it’s cabin crew fashion,” making it clear that Riyadh Air is aiming for high-flying style. (Arab News)

The luxurious line includes timeless cashmere outerwear, elegant dresses, fine wool trousers, custom leather footwear, amethyst earrings, and chic pillbox hats, all inspired by the 1950s—a nod to the golden age of aviation. At the same time, every piece carries Ashi’s unique touch, bringing a fresh, modern look to the skies.

The designer introduced new colour tones—Electric Amethyst for women and Dark Amethyst for men—paying tribute to Saudi Arabia’s lavender fields and perfectly aligning with Riyadh Air’s bold color scheme. It took six months to develop these unique shades, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail that characterises the collection.

This fashion-forward collection will be worn by Riyadh Air’s cabin crew, pilots, concierge agents, and airport staff, with seasonal updates to keep the looks fresh. According to reports from Arab News, Douglas lauded the nostalgic yet modern designs, saying, “He’s done an incredible job of connecting back to those halcyon days of commercial aviation… with a real modern twist.”

Ten womenswear and five menswear looks were showcased on the Paris runway, complete with accessories like shoes, purses, and hats. Some designs featured the canopy twist from the Riyadh Air logo, adding a unique touch. The collection also included modest options, such as turbans for women and sleek, below-the-knee skirts.

Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said, “It is a hugely proud moment for Riyadh Air to be working with an exceptionally talented designer such as Ashi for our beautiful cabin crew fashion line. Our cabin crew personify the panache and style that Riyadh Air represents, making it imperative to partner with a like-minded innovator who not only understands Saudi Arabian culture and hospitality, but also captures the essence of our brand with a bold, visual impact. The cabin crew fashion line is one of the first things our guests will see when they board our aircraft in 2025 and we are confident that Ashi’s unique designs will leave a lasting impression, ensuring the experience lives long in their memory after they have landed.”

Ashi, founder and creative director of ASHI STUDIO also expressed how significant the partnership is for him, “It’s such an honour to  collaborate with  Riyadh Air to design the airline’s first ever cabin crew fashion line. The airline will play an important role in the future of Saudi Arabia by making Riyadh one of the world’s key destinations. I am delighted to be part of a project so significant for our nation. It’s an exciting time to be in Saudi Arabia and to witness another Saudi brand going global. I am looking forward to sharing the cabin crew fashion line with the world, and to seeing the Riyadh Air team wearing my creations when it takes its maiden flight in 2025.”
