Interview: Meet the Sister Duo Redefining Your Scent Experience as Faceless Fragrance Influencers

"You don’t need to show your face to entertain viewers! Art comes in many different forms."

Social media loves to tell us that success means sharing it all, but faceless creators like ScentedSisterz are changing the narrative—showing that you don’t need a profile picture to share your passion.

For this sister duo, what started as a childhood love of scents has blossomed into a full-blown storytelling venture as one of the region’s coolest emerging fragrance influencers. For them, it’s all about the art of perfumery, minus the personal trade-offs.

You’d think reviewing a fragrance without seeing a smile or a frown would be tough, but these girlies has it covered. Using evocative visuals, like moody props or hints of food that mirror a perfume’s notes, they set the scene for what you can expect from a perfume.

Just as one of the sisters puts it, “We don’t need to show our faces to speak to and engage our audience.” With more creators realising they can connect deeply through visuals, storytelling, and pure creativity, we’re seeing a rise in this trend in content creation. It’s a movement for those who crave privacy but still want their art out in the world.

In conversation with Soigné, ScentedSisterz offered a sneak peek into the scents they predict will dominate this fall and the personal inspirations that fuel their passion for perfumery.

What first sparked your passion for fragrances, and how did that lead you to start ScentedSisterz?

Z: My passion for fragrances began in my teen years, watching my mother’s ritual of selecting her scent for the day. As I grew older, this curiosity deepened into a love for exploring different scents and their unique stories. ScentedSisterz was born from my desire to share this passion with others, creating a space where fragrance enthusiasts could connect, discover, and celebrate the art of perfumery.

L: As a child, I loved trying my mother’s perfume collection. Fragrance is big in Arab culture, especially oils, so it’s always been rooted in me to smell good! Once Z and I started sniffing scents together while at the malls, our passion for discovering new and niche brands only grew from there till we wanted to put our love for scents out to the world.

Who or what has been your biggest inspiration in the fragrance world, and how has it influenced your content and approach to reviews?

Z: One of my biggest inspirations has been the legendary queen Mona Kattan. Her approach to creating fragrances and her own brand is deeply admirable, the way she focuses on creativity and the purity of ingredients and giving what the audience want. This has influenced my content by encouraging me to focus on the narrative behind each scent, ensuring that my reviews capture not just the notes but the emotions and stories they evoke. It was one of our highlights when we joined the Kayali family. A huge full circle moment for us!

L: For me, Mona Kattan has always been known as the fragrance queen so it was only natural that I looked up to her and continue to do so every day. Her successful brand Kayali also truly helps influencers like us to stay inspired by her success while staying true to herself, she is truly uplifting and positive! I also love Ije Simon (aka @ijesimonn on Instagram). She was one of the first influencers I came across when we first started our page, and her enthusiasm and honest reviews inspired me to do the same.

The fragrance industry is deeply sensory and often personal. How do you convey the essence of a scent to your audience without the visual cues that many influencers rely on?

Z: I focus on crafting vivid descriptions that transport my audience into the world of the fragrance. By drawing on analogies, memories, and emotions, I try to create a multi-sensory experience through words alone. You don’t need to show your face to entertain viewers! Art comes in many different forms.

L: While some may feel it’s hard to describe a perfume online without smelling it, we’ve found that by using visuals like props, food for gourmands, and illustrations really help convey a scent to our audience. In-depth descriptions also really help views spark their imagination and think about how great a scent truly is. Words are everything!

Faceless creators are becoming more prominent. What do you think has contributed to this rise, and how do you see it evolving in the future?

Z: The rise of faceless creators is partly due to the increasing emphasis on content quality over the creator’s image. It’s refreshing for audiences to focus solely on the message or art without distractions. I see this trend continuing to grow, with more creators finding unique ways to connect with their audience through voice, narrative, and creativity, rather than appearance.

L: We’ve always believed that we don’t need to show our faces to the public in order to speak to and engage our audience. I think more influencers are becoming aware of using visuals rather than human elements to speak and describe their scents have been successful enough that there’s not really much need to show faces. I do believe that this will continue to become more popular in the future, especially those who value their privacy but still want a place where they can be free to talk about their passion, while connecting on a deeper level with like minded individuals. We are, after all, the #IncognitoSisterz!

With the changing seasons, what upcoming fragrance trends do you see emerging for winter? Are there any specific notes or scent profiles you think will dominate?

Z: As winter approaches, I anticipate a resurgence of warm, cozy scents with notes like amber, vanilla, and spices such as cinnamon and clove. There’s also a growing interest in woody, resinous fragrances that evoke the feeling of being wrapped in a soft, cashmere blanket by the fire. I think we’ll see more people gravitating towards these comforting, enveloping scents. I’m a gourmand lover so expect to see more gourmands on the page during the upcoming months!

L: I think oud, amber, and richer notes like dates will be increasingly popular during the winter time. I can see a lot of layers of gourmand/woody & oud scents coming up, over a nice creamy body oil!

Layering perfumes has become quite popular. Could you share some of your favorite fragrance combinations?

Z: One of my favorite combinations is pairing a rich oud like Swiss Arabian’s Oud 07 with a soft floral like hundred silent ways by Nishane. The deep, resinous oud adds complexity and depth, while the floral notes bring a delicate freshness that lightens the blend. Another favorite is combining a gourmand vanilla like Escapade Gourmande by Maison Mataha with a crisp, citrusy scent like Citrus 08 by Kayali for a beautiful contrast that’s both sweet and zesty.

L: My #1 go-to layer at the moment is Swiss Arabian’s Musk 07 with Snif’s Heal the Way. I also love mixing Kayali’s Pistachio Gelato with Forvr Mood’s NDA followed by Xerjoff’s Naxos.

What’s a scent that holds a special memory for you, and why? How do you see the power of fragrance in evoking emotions and memories?

Z: The scent of vanilla always brings back memories of summer evenings spent with my first ever fragrance which was Vanilla 28 by Kayali. The air was filled with the intoxicating aroma of aromatic sweet vanilla, and it became a scent that I associate with warmth, love, and nostalgia. Fragrance has an incredible ability to evoke emotions and memories because it taps into our most primal senses, often transporting us back to specific moments in time with just one whiff.

L: One fragrance that comes to mind is Amouage’s Love Tuberose. Not only did my sister Z gift me this, but I have also made a ton of memories with this one with my loved ones, special moments with family and friends (and have gotten a ton of compliments!) I believe that fragrance has the power of evoking memories, let’s say you have a big day coming up, you’re going to pick your best fragrance to bring your confidence up. One spritz and it’ll take you back to that special day.

Where do you see ScentedSisterz heading in the future? Any exciting plans or projects that you can share with us?

Z: ScentedSisterz is evolving into a platform that not only shares reviews but provides suggestions and fragrance based advice to help our followers find the perfect scent for them! I have loved every single moment of it. One of the perks has been making such amazing friends from all over the world who share the same love for fragrances as we do. We hope to one day make our own fragrance to share with the world. But for now, we’re enjoying making content, partnering up with our favourite brands and enjoying the magic of scents.

L: I have faith that ScentedSisterz will continue to grow even more as our love for fragrance does, and even coming out with our very own fragrance line one day.
