Spring arrived early on the Abu Dhabi Modest Fashion Week runway, not through florals, but through Blossom, the latest collection by Aminathebrand. With soft tailoring, grounded prints, and colours that felt lifted from nature itself, the Nigerian-founded label made its debut with a collection that basically said spring has sprung.

Founded by Amina Mukhtar Shagari in 2019, the brand has always centred storytelling over spectacle. And on this runway, that quiet philosophy again spoke volumes.

Opening with Nigerian model and former Miss Nigeria, Shatu Garko, the show wasted no time setting the tone—a sartorial celebration of heritage, womanhood, and movement. Backed by the soulful remix of Oumou Sangaré’s “Minata Waraba” and “Kamelemba,” there was a heartbeat to the runway that made it worthwhile.

The Cruise 2025 collection, stayed true to what Amina has built her label around, clothes that speak before you even do. Think flowing silhouettes, easy tailoring, and a colour palette pulled straight from nature’s richer corners—sunset ochres, garden greens, soft lilacs, and stormy greys.

The collection was filled with nods to heritage, but never weighed down by it. A hand-beaded golden kaftan rippled like liquid under the lights, while a sculptural gown with geometric motifs reworked traditional prints into something undeniably sharp and modern.

ATB feels like a continuation of the stories the designer grew up with in Sokoto, of the global travels that shaped her eye, of a bigger conversation about where modest fashion, and African designers, fit into the wider industry.
