The week, full of its tension and anxiety, has finally come to an end. And while we hoped that the end of the week would also be the end of the escalating regional tensions, the situation continues. So now that we’re entering the weekend and freeing up our time, our weekend guide in Dubai looks at ways we can connect with the community and ground ourselves instead of further spiralling. After all, the best way to self-care right is not give in to panic, but to keep busy, embrace connection and the little joys in life. So here’s how you can do just that.

While a visit to The Farm includes a long drive, experiencing the place makes it all worth it. Harnessing the power of nature, the place instantly relaxes the mind and body with its lush greenery and calming waterways. Here you can take your pick from a curated Iftar to a serene Suhoor that tastes best when dined under the stars.

Sitting at the heart of Dubai with Burj Khalifa views, VIEW is a surprisingly calm place despite being located on a lively strip. With a curated Iftar under the stars, the evening is set with soft lighting and plush seating, complemented by the remaining Dubai winter air.

8th Cafe | Margham

Located in Margham within the peaceful desert sandscapes, 8th Cafe is the ideal post-Iftar hangout where brews and bites come together. They’re known for their coffee, but you can also find matcha and non-caffeine options available. For the sweet tooths out there, don’t leave without trying their Salted Caramel Macchiato and Rafaello Coconut Tart!

To Experience

Alserkal Avenue | Al Quoz

With most studios and galleries re-opening to the public, Alserkal Avenue becomes the spot to be in to find a respite in art and community. Between book stores, music shops, and niche independent brands, there’s plenty to explore within art, fashion, and Arab history. And, in accordance with government guidance, the neighbourhood has maintained safe houses and has put plans in place to ensure public safety.

Sohum Wellness | Al Quoz

IG sohumwellnessae

Blending wellness with luxurious spa experiences, Sohum Wellness is a space designed to escape the noise and embrace the calm within. With massages to pamper yourself, Ayurvedic rituals to balance the body’s energies, and more, you can get the tension out of the body and mind, keeping you grounded for what’s to come next. As International Women’s Day approaches, the centre will be hosting a candle manifestation. Taking place on Sunday, from 3–5 PM, the workshop blends the ritual of manifestation with the craft of candle making.
