With another week down, we wrap up this weekend with cosy cafes, pop-ups to explore, new screenings, and statement brands to shop. Since the city is opening up to its social rhythm, expect to find something for everyone this weekend, whether that’s shopping local brands, long days at the beach, or settling into a comedy film.

For those looking for a statement piece but still stacked with individuality, Dubai-based jewellery brand Zei Jewels ticks both boxes. Rooted in modular design and natural motifs, the pieces are made to be reconfigured to the wearer. Their latest collection, Cubica, takes this concept and turns it into a Rubik’s cube design, allowing for pieces to be rotated and stacked in various ways.

For those looking for a cosy morning escape, Juntas hides itself in a local neighbourhood. Naturally, the space is small, an outpost in a family’s front yard. But between tables and a large sofa set is their refined menu, filled with colourful plates of wholesome ingredients, fresh pastries that quickly crumble with each bite, and drinks worth savouring each sip as the day passes.

To Experience

Between a Fold and a Memory | Leila Heller Gallery Dubai

IG: @leilahellergallery

A solo exhibition by contemporary artist Dr Karima Al Shomely, Between a Fold and a Memory is a tribute to Emirati women and the cultural knowledge that they carry. The exhibition explores this through form, space, material, and repetition with traditional clothing, Emirati burqas, and battoulahs. Conceptualised across photography, sculpture, textiles, and video, Between a Fold and a Memory bridges the gap between the traditional and modern, past and present, without ever letting go of the heritage that ties it all together.

VYBE Pop-Up |  Flat 12 Cafe, Port Rashid

Taking place till September 27, 360 iPopup will bring its VYBE theme to Port Rashid. Here, expect to find 30 Emirati brands across fashion, beauty and lifestyle. The event will also host workshops such as ceramic tray moulding, bakhoor making, and charm making throughout the weekend as well as giveaways and lucky draws.

To Watch

Heart Of The Beast

Starring Brad Pitt, Heart of the Beast is an action-adventure following a  Special Forces officer and his combat dog as they navigate the Alaskan wilderness after getting stranded. Exploring the relationship between man and his best friend, it’s an ideal weekend watch for both action and dog lovers.

Sacrifice

An absurdist comedy, Sacrifice follows the story of Mike Tyler, a struggling movie star trying to make a comeback. At a charity event, he is then kidnapped by a radical group who believe that he must be sacrificed in a volcano to save humanity from the end of the world. Starring an ensemble cast featuring Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Vincent Cassel, Sam Richardson, John Malkovich, and Salma Hayek, Sacrifice comes with fabulous cinematography, powerful performances, and an odd, but captivating, narrative.
