For Saudis, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has outlined a generous holiday schedule that ensures a substantial break for both public and private sector workers. Starting on April 8, employees will be granted a four-day break, coinciding with the weekend, to craft a continuous six-day leisure period. This arrangement facilitates a much-needed respite, enabling residents to fully engage in Eid festivities and family gatherings. The return to work is slated for April 14, ensuring a well-rounded break. Employers have been reminded to comply with the specific guidelines set out in the nation’s labor law, ensuring a smooth transition into the holiday period.
Eid Al Fitr, a festival that marks the end of Ramadan, is eagerly awaited by Muslims worldwide. It’s a time for communal prayers, feasting, and giving, celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the month following Ramadan. Depending on lunar observations, Ramadan can last either 29 or 30 days, making the exact date of Eid subject to the moon’s sighting.
Meanwhile, the UAE is not far behind in extending its holiday spirit, with a potential nine-day break on the cards for its residents. This extended period, stretching from the end of Ramadan until the third of Shawwal, offers a unique opportunity for longer family vacations and festivities. The exact dates of the holiday are dependent on the lunar calendar, with the celebration poised to begin on April 9 or 10, depending on the duration of Ramadan.
