The UAE is always at the forefront of promoting women’s empowerment and inclusivity, and the country has rolled out another great initiative with the launch of a new sports facility dedicated to women. Under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and inaugurated by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the new headquarters of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy has opened in Abu Dhabi.
This new hub, sprawling over 13,870 square meters and nestled near key landmarks like the Erth Abu Dhabi Hotel and the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club, aims to boost the city’s sports landscape and enhance women’s roles in society. The facility not only serves as a venue for physical activities but also as a center for cultural and social engagement, truly reflecting the progressive vision of UAE’s leadership.
Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza emphasized the transformative role sports play in building a healthy and disciplined society during the opening ceremony. She also expressed gratitude towards her grandmother, acknowledging her pivotal role in driving women’s empowerment forward.
The academy is equipped with modern sports facilities including squash and fencing halls, an aerobics room, and multipurpose sports halls. It also features outdoor spaces like a football field and running tracks. Additionally, it houses a library focused on sports research, showcasing the latest in smart technology and sustainable practices.
This initiative not only underlines the UAE’s commitment to advancing women’s status through sports but also adds a significant chapter to the ongoing story of women’s empowerment in the region.
