Chanel’s Short Film ‘The Button’ Sets the Stage for the SS-24 Haute Couture Show

Iconic

Earlier this week, CHANEL shared an exciting short film called “The Button” ahead of the Spring Summer 2024 Haute Couture show in Paris. Created in collaboration with pgLang, written and directed by Dave Free, and scored by Kendrick Lamar, the film, invited by Virginie Viard, Creative Director of Chanel, stars Margaret Qualley. In the film, Qualley embarks on a magical journey triggered by a missing button from her Chanel jacket cuff. As she explores iconic locations in Paris, she meets figures like Naomi Campbell and Anna Mouglalis, who share wisdom about beauty in imperfections. The button becomes a symbol of memories and transmission, embodying Chanel’s heritage. “The Button” is a tribute to Chanel’s timeless elegance, setting the stage for the Haute Couture show that took place on Tuesday, 23rd January 2024.

Presented at the grand palais éphémère inparis THECHANELSPRINGSUMMER2024 haute couture collection imagined by virginie viard takes the button, an object as utilitarian as ornamental, into the world of ballet and dance. An expression of grace freedom and precision in every movement, the pink and white aquarelle-dominated collection reveals the finesse of savoir-faire. Long dresses, short straight skirts, jumpsuits, tulle, pleats, lace, flowers and bows give rise to an ethereal and feminine collection, worn over white ballet leotards and tights, and infused with references to contemporary culture.
