Celebrating Mother’s Day: Exclusive Interview with Jawaher Al Suwaidi

Celebrating the sanctity of motherhood and the spirit of a month dedicated to patience, reflection, and community.

This year, Mother’s Day lands right in the heart of Ramadan, making it an even more heartfelt occasion across the Middle East. It’s a time when the spirit of this sacred month adds layers of depth to our appreciation of mothers. As we celebrate the sanctity of motherhood and the spirit of a month dedicated to patience, reflection, and community, we’re taking this opportunity to sit down with Jawaher Alsuwaidi, an Emirati trailblazer who beautifully lives her life as both a loving mom and a successful fashion content creator, designer, and entrepreneur.

Describing what motherhood means to her, she shared, “Two words that describe motherhood to me are unconditional love. Being a mother has changed me for the better. I love more than I used to, and I have so much more love and space in my heart than ever before. I am very grateful for my children and for my mother.”

There’s a common myth in our society that women have to choose between being mothers or chasing their career dreams. But that’s far from true. The reality is that many women, like Jawaher, are showing us every day that they can do both if they want—they can fill their homes with love and care, being there for their families in every big and small moment. At the same time, they’re out there achieving their career goals and making a name for themselves in every field imaginable.

Offering advice for mothers who are trying to balance their family life and professional aspirations, Jawaher added: “My advice is that you cannot balance, sometimes you have to sacrifice, sometimes you have to choose one over the other. For me, family always comes first but sometimes I do have to choose work and I do get distracted by my professional life but at the end of the day, I know that I’m going to go back home to my family and children and I do everything for them. So knowing that you’ll go back to your family and do everything for them, it’s okay to make sacrifices every now and then.”

As we wrapped up our conversation, we took a detour into the Ramadan fashion landscape with insights from the modest fashion influencer and designer.
