Food-Themed Bags Are on Everyone’s Menu This Season

Love them or hate them, food-inspired bags are the season's hottest arm candy

This season’s runways were a feast of couture delights, with brands like Anya Hindmarch and Moschino sparking buzz by showcasing purses that were less ‘it bags’ and more “edible” statements—everything from crystallised caviar tins to soda cans made their debut under the runway spotlights.

The trend was also fuelled by Kate Spade’s recent collaboration with Heinz, bringing its iconic ketchup branding into the high-fashion fold, offering totes and pouches that transformed a pantry staple into the ultimate collector’s piece.

Fashion’s appetite for creativity and humor knows no limits, and this season, the food-themed bags trend is satisfying the cravings of style icons and trendsetters alike. These quirky, culinary-inspired bags have been spotted on many fashion-forward individuals, including celebrities who are often seen with a slice of pizza, a bowl of cereal, or even a fast food bucket hanging off their arm as the latest “it” accessory.

Lucky for us, there’s no shortage of these quirky bags out there. Brands like Susan Alexandra, Betsey Johnson, Anya Hindmarch, Moschino and of course, the iconic Judith Leiber have created designs inspired by everything from fruit salads to bread. These pieces play with the visual identity of popular foods, taking items that are part of our daily lives and transforming them into arm candy.

The Hype

What began as a quirky trend on the runway has trickled down into everyday style. The versatility of food-themed purses means they can be worn casually with jeans and a tee or used to accent a bold evening look (Dubai Bling stars did it first.)

In a season that’s given us neutrals and minimalism, food-themed purses are the candy-colored antidote we didn’t know we were craving. They’re playful, they’re bold, and they’re real conversation starters. So, grab a snack—and maybe a bag to match.
