If you’re looking to take your winter wardrobe up a notch, Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela have just dropped the chicest footwear collab. This limited-edition capsule collection merges Dr. Martens’ iconic, street-ready durability with MM6 Maison Margiela’s high-fashion edge.
First, the iconic Dr. Martens 1460 eight-eye boot and 1461 three-eye shoe have been reimagined with the design sensibilities you’d expect from MM6 Maison Margiela. This hybrid design combines oxblood Vintage Smooth leather and jet-black Virginia leather, contrasting colors and textures for a look that’s both gritty and refined.
MM6’s distinct design language, known for deconstructive fashion, isn’t only hinted at here—it’s worn boldly, literally turning the idea of the classic Dr. Martens boot inside-out.
Then there’s the 1490 boot. Featuring an all-black monochrome with a bump-toe borrowed from the 1461, this boot speaks to the fashion-forward wearer who knows their way around a trend but wants substance to match. This style channels a fusion of Dr. Martens’ tough, iconic lines and MM6’s avant-garde spirit. This one’s a statement piece that still has the all-day comfort and durability Dr. Martens is famous for.
Rounding out the collection is the reinterpreted Penton loafer. This design takes the classic loafer and introduces a “peekaboo” effect, with oxblood leather and laces from the 1461 subtly emerging.
When MM6 Maison Margiela previewed the pieces on its Autumn/Winter 2024 runway during Milan Fashion Week, the fashion world knew something really cool was coming.
Dropping November 19th online and at select retailers, the Dr. Martens x MM6 Maison Margiela capsule collection is priced between $290 and $320, and the pieces are expected to sell quickly.
