August 31st marks the 55th birthday of Her Highness Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan. And as such, the Royal Hashemite Court has unveiled a stunning new portrait of the queen.

In the portrait, the queen appears candidly in The Adami Maxi Dress by British label Solace London. The plisse pleated dress features a high neckline and exaggerated kimono-style sleeves. In the background of soft rock and trees, this arctic blue dress pops, spotlighting the royal in her signature style.

The day also marked a series of wholesome tributes. The official Royal Hashemite Court gave their wishes with a photo of the queen alongside her husband, King Abdullah II of Jordan. The caption, in translated Arabic, reads “The Royal Hashemite Council extends its sincere congratulations to Her Majesty Queen Rania Abdullah, on the occasion of her birthday, we ask the Lord to preserve Her Majesty and grant her health and wellness.” and in English reads, “Wishing Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah many happy returns on the occasion of her birthday”.
Her son, the Crown Prince of Jordan, Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, also shared his wishes on Instagram. Sharing a photo with his mother and his wife, Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, the tribute reads in translated Arabic, “May Allah protect you for us and give you a long life”, and in English “Happy birthday to my loving mother. God bless you!”
Born Rania Al-Yassin, the Kuwaiti-based royal comes from humble beginnings to Palestinian parents. Since becoming queen in March 1999, she has dedicated her life to charity work and advocating for women’s and children’s rights, protection, and economic development. More recently, she has raised awareness about the genocide in Gaza, speaking out for Palestinian children in warzones at various global summits and events.
