A Curation of the Coolest Bags We Saw on the SS26 Fashion Week Runways

As Paris Fashion Week continues on with jaw-dropping looks, we wanted to turn our attention away from the clothes and onto the bags. There have been two noticeable trends lately when it comes to bags—East-West styles and massive hobos.

IG loropiana

Loro Piana is partly responsible for the East-West style taking over. Their Extra Pocket line, kick-started a trend of top-handle clutches that toe the line of vanity pouch. In their SS26 collection, they pushed the line even further in a bigger, rounded Extra bag in a warm chocolate brown.

And Bottega Veneta have been keeping the slouchy hobo silhouette strong. In Louise Trotter’s debut show, we saw plenty of massive hobo-style bags, either held top handle style or tucked under the arm. All in Bottega’s signature ‘intrecciato’ weave, but the star of the lineup had to be a pouch that had pieces of leather coming out of the weave, creating a fringed effect.

Over at Prada’s runway, the bags were sleek and polished, with elongated straps joining in the East-West styles, though not as exaggerated.

IG theattico

While The Attico is not a heritage house, if you’re a bagaholic, we’re sure you’ve seen their viral La Passeggiata on many influencers and Kylie Jenner. Asymmetrical and spacious, the original iteration is like a bag in a bag. In their SS26 show, they debuted a mini version, transforming the edginess from their original bag to a super fun bag.

And speaking of fun, no one does fun like Moschino. Weird, quirky, ironic, trompe l’oeil is what we’ve come to expect of Moschino. And while their SS26 show did have their Tie Me bags in patchwork styles, what caught our attention were all the everyday objects. A saucepan, a newspaper, and a pack of apples were the biggest standouts.

Another house that brought the fun with their bags was Fendi. On the runway, we saw the modern interpretation of the Mamma Baguette made sweet with floral motifs, a colour-blocked tote that, on closer look, features woven leather straps similar to Bottega Veneta, and multiple Pekaboos lined with beadwork and sequins as a clever nod to a woman’s inner sparkle.

At Gucci’s short film, we saw Jackie’s and Bamboo style reimaged, alongside a massive hobo adorned with the classic Gucci print.

And finally, we cannot skin Jonathan Anderson’s Dior. Fresh off his iterations of the Dior Book Tote and Lady Dior, for his debut womenswear show, we got a suede Lady Dior bowling bag, a slouchy tote that echoes John Galliano’s Dior, and a droopy cannage print that we can see being a chic accessory for eveningwear.
