As always, credit is due to Hailey Bieber. Usually leaning towards the browns for her makeup, Hailey Bieber has been a frequent reference point for makeup lovers everywhere who are trying to recreate toasty makeup.

So, How Do You Get Toasty Makeup?

While most tutorials underpaint with bronzer and blush to get that lit-from-within glow, we’re going another route, a route that matches the climate we live in. The base? Moisturise and put a pin on that. Start with the eyes instead so your skin doesn’t have to deal with any fallout later. What makes toasty makeup so great is that it is neutral enough to match any look—keep it matte for the day, and shimmery for the night. The Creamy Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette by Huda Beauty has all the warm, toasty shades you would need to achieve this look, no matter the skin tone.

If shadows aren’t your thing, brown liner will also do the job. Apply on the waterline and it will soften the eyes, and tie the whole look together. If you want an even softer, diffused look, use eyeshadow as a liner; simply stamp it along the lash line.

Fenty Beauty | SoftLit Luminous Foundation | Dhs 205

Now, we can move on to the base. Toasty makeup is all about that glow, so we’re aiming for literally anything but a matte base. Whether it’s a skin tint or a heavy-duty foundation, make sure the base is dewy. Our pick is Fenty Beauty’s Soft’Lit Luminous Foundation. Not only does it give us the base we need with medium coverage, but it also resists sweat, humidity, and fading, which is perfect for the Gulf weather.

Tarte | Sculpt Tape™ Contour | Dhs 145

And once you have these two areas covered, we can move to the crux of toasty makeup: bronzer. Or specifically, the makeup that creates depth and glow to the face. Stick to the regular contouring routine, i.e. hitting the natural shadows. And then get to the warmth. Make sure your bronzer matches your skintone; we want toasty, not orange marmalade. Our recommendation is the tried and true Sculpt Tape™ Contour by Tarte. It leaves behind the sun-kissed glow we need and features skin-loving ingredients keeping it moisturised.

So bronze away, making sure to get the forehead, cheekbones, and jawline. If you want to be a bit extra, add some bronzer to the nose and mimic some freckles with a freckle pen or brown liner. Once blended, deepen the warmth of the skin with an earthy-toned blush.

Rhode | Pocket Blush Toasted Teddy Bronze Terracota | Dhs 92

This is probably where Hailey Bieber comes in. When it comes to her toasty makeup, it’s the cheeks that stand out, the reddish brown hue that tinges her cheekbones. For blush, it’s only natural that we recommend Rhode’s Pocket Blush; it’s probably what Hailey had on herself! The shade Toasted Teddy – Bronze Terracota has it all in the name—warm, creamy, and gives you that tanned glow. Recently, Rhode released two new Pocket Blush shades, and it’s clearly for toasty makeup. Tan Line – Pink Tan is suited for those with lighter skin tones, leaving behind a pinky flush, whereas Sun Soak – Spiced Orange is a little deeper, perfect for those with medium skin tones.

Kiko Milano | 3D Hydra Lipgloss Enchanting Rosewood | Dhs 75

And finally, the lips. The lip shade you choose could make the whole look go from toasty to vampy, so choose carefully. Stick to earthy tones that match the rest of your makeup: rusty reds, orange browns, or terracotta pink. Don’t forget to layer it over a hydrating lip balm because no matter the finish, you shouldn’t have to suffer with dry lips. We would also recommend a lip oil to top it off, adding juiciness to this toast, cinnamon-roll look.
