As Ramadan 2026 approaches, so does a new social season consisting of iftars, suhoors, casual gatherings and more. And at the heart of it is modest fashion that reflects the spirituality of the Holy Month. For most, that’s donning an abaya and calling it a day. But for the fashion-forward, wearing isn’t enough. A good Ramadan look means styling so that it presents both personality and sanctity. So, with that in mind, here are the creative ways we’re planning to style our abayas this season.
Animal Print

For casual gatherings, skip the embellished abayas and stick to simple silhouettes. The catch? Elevate them with animal print. This could be done in a myriad of ways—either through a hijab, through shoes, or through bags. As for the animal in question, we’re leaning towards the demure cow print or the currently popular deer print that’s subtle yet still elegant.
Gloves

Considering that most gatherings around Ramadan involve eating, wearing gloves might seem counterintuitive but the accessory is one of the simplest ways to elevate an outfit without doing much. This way, you can play around with colour blocking and textures that add a subtle statement.
Brooches

Since brooches are currently in, why not incorporate them into the abaya? Either go the maximalist route with pins along the sleeves or play around with draping and a statement brooch.
Texture Play

The oldest trick in the book when it comes to styling abayas but considering how it’s always a hit, it’s a worthwhile trick. With open abayas, go for contrasting fabrics underneath that add texture to an outfit. Our picks for the season are silks and satin as they bring off that effortless shine. Paired with the standard chiffon or organza abaya and the silky inners shine even brighter.
Fur

An unconventional pairing considering the Gulf weather, but since Iftars and Suhoors occur late in the night, a furry layer is more practical than you would think. A fur coat might be too dramatic so instead we suggest layering on a fur scarf. Draped across the shoulders, it adds the right touch of elegance and fun while staying on trend and modernising the abaya.
Elevated Workwear

If you find yourself at corporate Iftars and Suhoors, then pair a blazer abaya with masculine corporate dressing, complete with ties and vests. Leaving the abaya open, it creates a fascinating juxtaposition of flowing fabric and restrained workwear.
Wide-legged Denim

Another option for casual gatherings, pair an abaya with a wide-legged denim pant that keeps things comfortable yet still chic. When it comes to styling, either leave the abaya open or allow the pants to peek through, a subtle way of owning the dress over pants trend.
Corsets

While most Ramadan outfits consist of loose silhouettes, if you’re looking to snatch things up, incorporate a corset with your abaya. This could mean a monochrome look, an embellished corset switching up a plain abaya, or a recreation of Schiaparelli’s belt corset, adding an edgier look to the outfit.
