Eid is just around the corner and that means outfits are being bookmarked, tried on, and experimented with as we speak! Although the regional war makes this year’s Eid al-Fitr a sombre and possibly an indoor one, it is still a day to celebrate. So if you find yourself clueless on what to wear, here’s a guide to get you started.

Draped Dresses For Something Lowkey

If you’re looking to pair back and skip the bling this year, especially with the current situation, then opt for draped maxi dresses and kaftans. Despite no embellishments, the draping provides an interesting silhouette to work with. Kaftans especially make for comfortable wear indoors while still looking like polished occasionwear.

Jumpsuits + Abayas For Something Unique

While it’s not the most popular combination, it sure is a unique one! It also makes for more fluid movement while remaining stylish and elegant. If the combination is too out there, then opt for a jumpsuit with a cape, although similar in silhouette, it is lightweight, giving us the dramatic movement we desire.

Stick to Silks

Velvet abaya last season, silk abayas this season. Even without accessories, embroidery, or ornamentation, silk abayas still look elegant and celebratory because of the shiny fabric. Especially for nighttime events where dim lighting emphasises its natural sheen. If you find yourself looking to wear something minimalistic, make it silk so it still feels celebratory.

Pastels for Day, Jewels for Night

It’s a common colour combination that occurs every Eid, perhaps every occasion: bright pastels during the day, and warm jewel tones at night. And we continue to recommend it because it clearly works! Both colour palettes complement almost all undertones while keeping things light, fresh, and fun.

Opt for Soft Glam

While smoky eyes and gothic lips are making a comeback, a soft glam seems like the tidier option for this season. We’re talking diffused wings, satin lips, and blush accentuated with highlight, Sabrina Carpenter style.

Balance the Jewellery

Considering how the festivities can take you from one place to another, it’s probably for the best if we give maximalist jewellery a break. However, we don’t mean to dive back to the dainty jewellery! Instead, try to strike a balance between the two; bangles can still jangle without completely covering the wrist, and earrings can still be a statement instead of a stud. By doing so, we don’t risk our bodies getting hurt from heavy jewellery.

Don’t Forget the Statement Clutch!

What’s an outfit without its bag? Even if there’s nowhere to go but the living room, an outfit is incomplete without its corresponding bag. Throughout Ramadan, we have seen a fair share of statement clutches and top-handle bags make appearances at Suhoors and Iftars. And for Eid, we recommend the same, specifically micro bag and sculptural pieces that could be guessed as art. If you’re not leaving the house, might as well be whimsical about it!
