Lebanon is facing a humanitarian crisis as Israel continues to launch attacks across the country, displacing over 800,000 people. According to reports, Lebanese authorities have said that more than 816,000 displaced people have been registered since the attacks began, and among those, 126,000 people were residing in 589 shelters.
The crisis began on February 28, when paramilitary group Hezbollah launched rockets towards Israel after the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Retaliating with intensified attacks, Israel issued a forced displacement order for Southern Lebanon as well as Southern Beirut. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, approximately 634 people have been killed, and 1,586 people have been injured from these attacks. It’s a harrowing and heartbreaking situation as families are left without shelter, food, and other essential supplies, while also fleeing from danger.
