Last week’s Mother’s Day celebrations in the UAE came with more than flowers and tributes. In Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan directed the Community Development Authority to adopt the term “Generations Shaper” in place of “housewife,” a symbolic but telling shift that reframes motherhood in language that feels more reflective of its weight. At a time when the UAE is also marking 2026 as the Year of the Family, the message lands with even more resonance.
The act was a symbol of gratitude to all the mothers, honoring them for their presence in our lives.
He said ” To all our mothers….Thankyou. You are the foundation of everything good. Happy Mother’s Day”.
The crown prince also shared a video celebrating the blessings that mothers are in our lives and how irreplaceable they are in shaping the society and families.
He also went on to add saying “Mothers are the first school for their children, the place where children learn belonging, responsibility and the values that shape strong nations.”
