On May 1, you can expect the fashion-forward all over the world to be seated for The Devil Wears Prada 2. A movie so entrenched in pop culture, it has been an enduring statement on fashion and the industry that it occupies, it has become the de facto reference for any fashion journalist, writer, stylist, or editor to be compared to.
While we wait with bated breath for the official theatrical release, the Devil and her assistant, AKA Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, have been blessing us with their fashion during their promos.
These days, marketing for a movie is as good as the colour associated with it, thanks to the phenomenon of Barbenheimer. Wicked only confirmed that process as pastel pink and green became easy references to the musical film. Now, for The Devil Wears Prada 2, we’re watching the same association happen. While most of us think of cerulean blue because of Miranda Priestly’s monologue—and yes, Meryl Streep did wear the blue sweater as a callback—another shade is just as important for this film. And that’s the “Devil” red, seen on the original 2006 film poster and highlighted now once again. We first get a taste of it during the first teaser trailer, where Mirande enters the scene in Valentino-red rock stud heels. Now, as the movie promotions begin, the shade is never too far away from the two leading women.

In their first stop at Mexico City, the pair alternated the shade. Streep wore a fiery red Dolce & Gabbana suit while Hathaway went head-to-toe in Schiaparelli with a fringed dress, sculptural belt, and keyhole shoes.

In another appearance, Hathway went for red this time, sporting a sequinned red mini dress and thigh-high Stella McCartney boots. Whereas Streep kept things simple in a navy blue Schiaparelli maxi dress and Face bag.

In Tokyo, the looks got edgier. Anne Hathaway stepped onto the red carpet fan event in her Andie Sachs-esque bangs and Valentino couture—a nod to the designer’s cameo in the original film. While the tube neckline isn’t modest-friendly, the modest dresser can easily fix that with a simple black coat.
Meryl Streep appeared at the Tokyo event dressed in Matthieu Blazy-era Chanel, complete with the classic pumps. Fringed hems made this look even cooler as each sway announced its presence, while pops of blue under the sleeves did not go unnoticed!

Currently in Seoul, the pair have continued their promos with subtle references and red at the centre. Hathaway is still rocking the bangs and, for this event, went for a leather ensemble from Vaquera’s Spring 2026 collection. With voluptuous sleeves, the corset top is once again not modest-friendly, but can be with an inner layer. A contrasting colour might just allow it to pop even more. In a full circle moment, Streep joins Hathaway in a Prada red pant suit, contrasted with a skinny caramel belt.
Sticking to their sharp colours and obvious character tailoring, decoding the fashion that surrounds this film is just as fun as the film itself! And as the promotions show no sign of stopping, we’re excited to see what other looks the pair have under their sleeves.
