Zome Luxury: Meet The Creative Mind Behind the Bold Jewellery Designs

Designs that echo the splendour seen at the Ambani wedding

When it comes to weddings, the Ambanis have redefined what it means to go big. Their recent nuptials were nothing short of a Bollywood blockbuster, complete with A-list guests, luxurious venues, and, most importantly, jaw-dropping jewellery seen on the guests as well as the Ambani family members. Attended by renowned personalities from around the world, the events were a stunning display of India’s jewellery heritage, with guests sporting magnificent pieces that merged traditional craftsmanship with today’s design sensibilities.

This rich legacy is what Meghna Biswas, the creative mind behind Zome Luxury, brings to the UAE with her own unique touch. Growing up surrounded by India’s rich artistry of colours and intricate designs, the designer has always been captivated by the feel of gemstones.

Zome Luxury

Her passion shines through at Zome Luxury, where she channels her Indian heritage into contemporary jewellery pieces that resonate with the UAE’s fashion-forward clientele.

If I were to describe them, I’d say her designs are bold and unapologetically unique, echoing the splendour seen at the Ambani wedding. Whether it’s the deep greens of tourmalines or the deep blues of tanzanites, Zome Luxury’s creations celebrate the power of gemstones. With her brand, she invites everyone to wear a piece of art that feels both personal and profound.

In this interview, the jewellery designer shares how she crafts each piece to reflect her roots, bringing the elegance and history of Indian jewellery to a modern audience.

How does your Indian heritage influence your design philosophy at Zome Luxury?

My Indian heritage deeply influences my design philosophy at Zome Luxury and is a core part of the brand. The rich tapestry of Indian culture, with its vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and deep appreciation for craftsmanship, is something I carry with me in every piece I create. From the elaborate filigree work to the bold use of gemstones, my designs often reflect the opulence and artistic traditions of India, blended with a contemporary twist that makes each piece uniquely Zome.

Zome Luxury is celebrated for its vibrant colours and intricate designs. What inspires your choice of colours and patterns?

My choice of colours and patterns is inspired by a combination of nature, art, and my personal love for vibrant, eye-catching hues. Growing up surrounded by the rich colours of Indian textiles and architecture, I’ve always been drawn to bold colour palettes. I also find inspiration in gemstones themselves—their natural beauty and unique hues guide my design process. Whether it’s the deep greens of tourmalines, the soft blush of morganites or the mysterious blues in tanzanites, I aim to create pieces that are visually striking and harmonious.

What do gemstones mean to you personally, and how do those sentiments reflect in your designs?

Gemstones are more than just beautiful stones to me; they are natural wonders that carry stories, energy, and history within them. Each gemstone has its own personality, and I love exploring how different stones can be combined to create something truly unique. This sentiment is reflected in my designs at Zome Luxury, where I strive to highlight the inherent beauty of each gemstone, often pairing unexpected colours, and cuts to create pieces that feel both timeless and modern.

What’s your creative process like when designing a new piece? Where do you find your inspiration?

My creative process starts with the gemstones. I often begin by laying out different stones and exploring how they interact with each other in terms of colour, texture, and energy. Inspiration comes from various sources—nature, architecture, and art all play significant roles. I also draw from my background in interior design, where I learned to balance form and function. Once I have a concept, I sketch it out, paying close attention to how the piece will complement the wearer’s style and personality. Each design is a journey from idea to execution, with the goal of creating something that feels both fresh and enduring.

How do you hope your customers feel when they wear a piece from Zome Luxury?

I hope that wearing a piece from Zome Luxury makes my customers feel confident, empowered, beautiful, and truly special. My goal is to create jewellery that resonates on a personal level, pieces that are not just accessories but extensions of the wearer’s identity. I want them to feel that they are wearing a piece of art, something that elevates their style and makes them stand out, whether it’s for a special occasion or an everyday look.

Can you tell us the stories behind some of your favourite pieces?

One of my favourite and very first pieces I designed is a ring featuring a floral motif set with various multicoloured sapphires and diamonds. This piece was inspired by a spring garden in full bloom, capturing the vibrancy and freshness of the season. Another favourite is a pair of earrings with pear-shaped tanzanites framed by peridots and amethysts, designed to evoke the mystery and allure of the evening sky. Each piece I create has a story behind it, often rooted in my personal experiences and emotions, and it brings me so much joy to see these stories come to life through the jewellery.

How do you envision the future of Zome Luxury in terms of growth and influence within the jewellery industry?

I envision Zome Luxury becoming a brand synonymous with innovation, craftsmanship and bold design within the jewellery industry. As we grow, I want to continue pushing the boundaries of traditional jewellery-making, incorporating new techniques and materials while staying true to the essence of what makes Zome unique. I also hope to expand our reach globally, sharing our vision of luxury and artistry with a wider audience. Ultimately, I want Zome Luxury to be known not just for its beautiful pieces, but for its commitment to quality, ethical sourcing and a deep respect for the art of jewellery-making.
