Soigné Middle East's Issue 002 cover star, Dubai Bling’s favourite reality-TV star, serial entrepreneur, mother, and podcast host, Danya Mohammed—“Diva Dee” to her followers—shares how gratitude fuels her calm, why modest power dressing is her favourite creative challenge, and what really matters when the cameras cut

Most of us first saw Danya Mohammed through the lens of Dubai Bling—a “Rolex in my hair” moment that lived rent-free on social feeds. It’s easy to stop there, but she won’t let you. “People know me as Diva Dee—glamorous, confident, always dressed to impress. But what many don’t see is the depth behind the sparkle… like everyone, I have layers,” she says.

That depth rests on values she calls non‑negotiable—family, loyalty, kindness, and a spiritual outlook that shapes every decision. Central to this value system is how she understands modesty. “It isn’t just about how you dress—it’s about how you carry yourself, how you treat others, and the energy you bring into a room.” Fashion, then, becomes problem-solving, not compromise: “You can be the most fashionable person in the room without showing skin. In fact, it’s much harder to be fashionable when you have limitations—it takes real creativity and a true love for art and fashion to make it work.”

She didn’t go looking for a title. “The ‘modest’ label kind of found me… now I see it as a privilege and an honour.” With it comes the intention to show that modest style can be “bold, artistic, luxurious—even edgy,” and to give women who dress this way a mirror that reflects them back, without apology. “If seeing me helps even one woman feel more confident in her skin and her style, then that means everything to me.”

Beyond the bling lies a woman who measures richness as much in values as in fashion—and that, more than any viral moment, is why she fronts this issue. The Q&A ahead gets into the calm, the craft, and the choices that matter to Diva Dee when the cameras cut.

You’re known as Diva Dee from Dubai Bling, but what’s something most people don’t know about you?

People know me as Diva Dee from Dubai Bling—glamorous, confident, always dressed to impress. But what many don’t see is the depth behind the sparkle. One common misconception is that I’m all about the drama or that I lead a superficial life. The truth is, I’m incredibly driven, family-oriented, and deeply spiritual. I care deeply about the environment, I live modestly in many ways, and I try to make conscious choices that align with my values. I’ve worked hard for everything I have, and I value loyalty, kindness, and personal growth more than anything. The show captures a part of me, but there’s so much more beneath the surface—like everyone, I have layers.

Modesty means different things to different women. What does modesty mean to you personally—and how has that definition evolved over the years?

For me, modesty isn’t just about how you dress—it’s about how you carry yourself, how you treat others, and the energy you bring into a room. Growing up, modesty was often linked to appearances, but over the years, I’ve come to see it as confidence, a sense of self-respect and inner strength. It’s about knowing your worth without needing to prove it loudly.

You can be the most fashionable person in the room without showing skin. In fact, it’s much harder to be fashionable when you have limitations— it takes real creativity and a true love for art and fashion to make it work. That’s the beauty of it. Modesty has taught me to express myself with intention, to be bold without being loud, and to show up with grace and authenticity.

You said the “modest” label found you—you never intentionally set out to be the face of modest fashion. How does that label sit with you now, and how do you hope it resonates with other women who dress modestly?

It’s true—the ‘modest’ label kind of found me. I never set out to be the face of modest fashion, I was just being myself. But over time, I realized how powerful that representation can be. At first, I didn’t fully embrace the label because I didn’t want to be boxed in. But now, I see it as a privilege and an honour.

Modesty means different things to different women, and I love that I get to show it can be bold, artistic, luxurious—even edgy. I hope it shows other women that dressing modestly doesn’t mean limiting yourself. You can be expressive, fashionable, and fully yourself—without compromising your values. If seeing me helps even one woman feel more confident in her skin and her style, then that means everything to me.

You often manage to balance glamour with full coverage in a way that feels powerful and natural. What drives your sense of style?

For me, style is a form of self-expression—it’s where confidence, culture, and creativity all meet. I’ve always loved fashion, not just for the trends, but for the storytelling. Balancing glamour with full coverage isn’t something I do to make a statement—it’s just how I feel most like myself.

What drives my style is the challenge and the artistry. When you’re dressing modestly, you have to think beyond the obvious—you play with texture, shape, layering, and details in a way that elevates the whole look. It’s easy to turn heads by showing skin, but to do it with full coverage? That’s power. That’s elegance. And that’s what excites me every time I get dressed.

Modest dressing is still sidelined—especially beach and resort wear. What do you wish designers understood about women who feel confident when they’re covered?

I really wish more designers would look outside the box and take modest fashion seriously. Right now, it’s creating a huge wave, but only a few niche designers are really tapping into it and understanding its power. There’s so much potential—and so much beauty—in modesty.

It’s not about restriction; it’s about choice and representation. So many women feel their strongest, most confident selves when they’re covered, and they deserve to see that reflected in high fashion, beachwear, resort collections—everywhere. Modesty is beautiful, bold, and expressive. I just wish more designers saw that and took the leap.

Can you give us a peek inside your summer suitcase?

Honestly, my summer suitcase is pretty simple: tanning oil, sunscreen, a great hat—and my confidence. I always pack pieces that make me feel comfortable, covered, and chic. Whether it’s a flowy kaftan, a bold swimsuit with a wrap, or oversized shades, I believe you don’t need to show skin to make a statement. Confidence is always my best accessory.

You’re packing light for a last-minute resort escape. Which three beauty essentials are total must-haves?

If I’m packing light for a last-minute resort escape, my three beauty must- haves are: a glossy lip, a creamy blush, and a tinted moisturizer with SPF. That combo gives you a fresh, radiant look in minutes—effortless but still put together. Just add a pair of sunnies and you’re good to go!

Late summer offers a brief pause. How do you use that moment to set your pace for the rest of the year—as both mum and entrepreneur?

Late summer is my reset button. It’s that small but powerful pause where I reflect, realign, and refuel—both as a mum and an entrepreneur. I always plan a beach getaway to relax, unwind, and just be present with my family. There’s something about the ocean that clears my mind and recenters me.

During that time, I check in with myself—what’s working, what needs to shift—and start mapping out the rest of the year with more clarity. I believe if you don’t make space to breathe, you lose sight of the bigger picture. So I treat late summer as a sacred window to reconnect with my purpose, set boundaries, and finish the year with focus and intention.

Dubai Bling rocketed you from being an influencer to a global media personality. What was the most unexpected lesson the television lens taught you about authenticity, especially when millions are watching every detail?

Dubai Bling catapulted me from being an influencer to a global media personality almost overnight—and with that comes millions of eyes watching your every move. The biggest, most unexpected lesson the camera taught me was to be unapologetically myself. It pushed me to drop the filters—not just the digital ones, but the emotional ones too—and show up authentically, with no excuses.

I realized that people fall in love with what’s real. And those who don’t? That’s okay. Because at the end of the day, I’m in love with who I am, the values I stand for, and the life I’ve built. That’s what truly matters. When you stand in your truth, you attract the right crowd—people who see you, respect you, and align with your energy.

Some fashion fans call you the show’s best-dressed. Name two on-screen looks that still make you smile?

It’s so hard to choose just two—I honestly love all of them! But if I had to pick, one would definitely be the Rolex in my hair look from Season 2. It was bold, unexpected, and so perfectly me—luxury with a wink.

The second would be the Audrey Hepburn–inspired look from Season 3. It was timeless, elegant, and still modest in a way that felt powerful. I loved channeling that old Hollywood glam through my own lens. Both looks captured different sides of me—and that’s what fashion is all about: telling your story, one outfit at a time.

I’ve seen you stay remarkably calm and composed, both during our cover shoot in Dubai’s heat and on-screen in Dubai Bling. What helps you find that calm, and why does composure matter when women are so often tagged as “too emotional” or “too easily stressed”?

Staying calm and composed—whether on a chaotic set, during filming, or in 40-degree heat during a cover shoot—isn’t something that just happens. It’s taken a lot of self-reflection and inner work to get to that point. For me, it always comes back to my core value: gratitude.

When you truly live from a place of gratitude, your perspective shifts. As women, we’re often told we’re ‘too emotional’ or ‘too stressed,’ but I believe composure isn’t about suppressing emotion—it’s about mastering your energy. And that strength comes from within.
