If you’re planning a staycation or just wondering when the next public holidays will arrive, we have you covered. Here are all the upcoming public holidays in the UAE that you can look forward to.

Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born on the 12th of Rabiʽ al-Awwal, which is the third month of the Islamic Calendar. This date is recognised and celebrated across many Islamic countries, UAE included.

The exact date will depend on the official moon sightings, but for now, we know that the holiday will fall on either Thursday, September 4 or Friday, September 5.

Commemoration Day

Formerly known as Martyrs’ Day, this is a public holiday to remember and recognise the sacrifices made by Emirati Martyrs in the civil, military, and humanitarian fields. This year, the holiday falls on Monday, December 1.

Eid Al Etihad

Formerly known as UAE National Day, this holiday translates to “Festival of the Union”. It is observed annually on December 2, and this year, it has been confirmed that December 2-3 will be public holidays for both the private and public sectors. Along with Commemoration Day, we are looking at a 5-day weekend.
