Yesterday, we saw the coastal city Jeddah welcome stars both regional and international for the Red Sea Film Festival. Hosting its fifth edition in the historic district of Al-Balad, the Red Sea Film Festival is one of the Middle East’s largest film festivals, running from December 4 -13. With the theme “For the Love of Cinema”, over the next week, guests can expect over 100 films from Saudi Arabia, the greater MENA region, Asia, and Africa, as well as exclusive screenings, global collaborations, and other industry initiatives. Backed by the Red Sea Film Foundation, the independent non-profit institution aims to platform local talent, specifically presenting the best of Arab cinema to the global stage.
And global it was! Similar to the fanfare of Riyadh Fashion Week, we saw Hollywood elite to Bollywood superstars on the red carpet yesterday, sparing no expense for the opening night, emphasising the Kingdom’s outreach and solidifying its global presence in line with Vision 2030.
Modest fashion also flourished on the red carpet, where bespoke couture gowns were creating drama and theatrical flair. We’re talking the best of Georges Hobeika, Dolce & Gabbana, David Koma, and more. We rounded up some of our favourite picks below.
