Alberta Ferretti set the tone for Dubai Fashion Week with its AW26/27 opening-night runway, marking the house’s first runway show in the Middle East.

Titled Portrait of a Lady, the collection is framed as the essence of a latter-day Victorian heroine seen through the eyes of Lorenzo Serafini, an idea that starts with a Victorian portrait (a heroine on horseback) and is reworked into modern proportion and mood.

On the runway, that translated into modest silhouettes, ideal for the Middle Eastern woman, think full skirts and cinched waists, broadened shoulders, and fluid layers that moved between structure and softness. A disciplined palette anchored the story, charcoal, midnight and graphite with burnished metallic notes, while drape, transparency and tailoring kept it feminine in a soft yet powerful way.

The show took place at Dubai Design District, co-presented with the Arab Fashion Council, highlighting Dubai Fashion Week’s growing pull for global houses and industry decision-makers.

We caught up with the house’s Creative Director Lorenzo Serafini backstage after the show, watch our interview below to hear more about the collection in his own words.
