Nurturing Saudi film talent, streaming platform Netflix and Saudi creative hub Righters House have teamed up to launch a screenwriting lab. Called “Write the Future: Feature Film Writers Lab”, the initiative will provide budding writers with professional tools to transform their ideas into feature-length films.

The programme will be conducted in Arabic and will run for three months. It will take place in three key regions in the country—Asir, Al Madinah, and the Eastern Province—providing free developmental workshops, in-person labs, and professional training in areas of screenwriting, story development, and narrative structure. Participants will also learn how to transform their ideas into a strategic pitch deck.

As of now, applications are open at Righters House’s website until March 1, 2026. According to reports, the programme will support 18 participants in total, with priority going to underrepresented voices from regional areas. By the end of the programme, all participants will leave with the tools and the knowledge to take their projects forward, bridging the gap between the idea and the screen.

As the Kingdom continues to build on their global presence in accordance with its Vision 2030 project, this initiative further establishes Saudi cinema in the region. Beyond film festivals and award shows, the Kingdom demonstrates that there is more to cinema than the glam. As this initiative focuses on behind-the-scenes support, the country works towards progressing its cinema while spotlighting regional storytelling.
