For most creatives, seeing your work in a gallery is a career milestone. In Dubai, it could end up on the world’s tallest building. Emaar has officially reopened submissions for the Burj Khalifa Open Call, inviting artists, designers and visual storytellers from the UAE and around the world to create an original projection that could illuminate the iconic façade of the Burj Khalifa.
Designed to celebrate innovation, talent, and the spirit of Dubai, the competition offers creatives the rare opportunity to transform one of the world’s most recognisable landmarks into a giant digital canvas.
This year’s competition is notably more international than previous editions, with submissions open to creatives worldwide until August 18, 2026.
Applicants are asked to submit a three-minute audio-visual concept accompanied by a short written statement outlining the inspiration behind the work. Entries must be entirely original, culturally appropriate and use copyright-free music. Emaar has also provided technical templates and guidelines to help artists prepare their final projection files.
One notable difference from last year’s edition is the absence of a confirmed cash prize. In 2025, the winning artist received Dhs 100,000 alongside the opportunity to see their work projected onto Burj Khalifa. This year, Emaar has only confirmed the projection itself as the official reward.
Even so, the opportunity remains extraordinary. Few creative platforms offer visibility quite like Burj Khalifa, whose façade has become synonymous with global celebrations, luxury brand takeovers and landmark cultural moments. For emerging and established artists alike, having work displayed across its 828-metre exterior represents international exposure that extends far beyond the city itself.
