Mathilde Favier, Dior’s longtime director of public relations and one of the most recognisable figures behind the house, has died at 57 following a car accident in France. Favier and French film producer Nicolas Altmayer, her partner, died in the crash on August 17.
Favier joined Dior in 2011 after beginning her career in fashion media and working in public relations at Prada. Over more than a decade at the house, she became a familiar presence at Dior shows and events, often seen welcoming celebrities and ambassadors backstage and on the front row.
Beyond her role at Dior, Favier had become a fashion figure in her own right—known for her unique Parisian style, cropped hair and wide smile. She also shared her love of Parisian living through her 2024 book, ‘Living Beautifully in Paris’.

Her passing has prompted tributes from across Dior and the wider fashion community. Dior CEO Delphine Arnault remembered Favier as an “incredible professional” and loyal friend, while LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault praised the passion, energy and talent she brought to the house. Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson also paid tribute to her, describing her as a representation of elegance and the spirit of couture.
Favier leaves behind a lasting place in the story of modern Dior, not only through her work shaping the house’s public image, but through the warmth, personality and distinctly Parisian sensibility she brought to fashion.
