Confirming the rumours after his last SS27 collection, Saint Laurent has officially announced the departure of Anthony Vaccarello. In a brief statement put out by Kering Group, the maison thanks Vaccarello for his work and the role he played in defining Saint Laurent’s current vision.
“During his tenure, Anthony took Saint Laurent on a remarkable trajectory, elevating the House to the forefront of desirability and image, while accomplishing exceptional work both creatively and through his cultural impact,” said Cedric Charbit, President and CEO of Saint Laurent. “I would like to warmly thank Anthony for his ten years of dedication to the House.”
As for Vaccarello himself, the designer put forward a compilation video of his time and work at the house. Captioned “À bientôt” (translation: see you soon), it leaves the fashion-forward curious about the Belgian designer’s next steps.

Assuming the role in 2016 after Hedi Slimane, Vaccarello has added to the maison’s house codes with sharp shoulders, wispy trenches, sensual sheer fabrics, and a moody-glam aesthetic. His latest, and final, collection took those codes and cemented them with Yves Saint Laurent’s favourite metallic gold, before finishing with 10 black pieces, a tribute to the designer’s 10-year tenure.
The House has yet to announce its successor, but in a statement mentions that new creative leadership will be announced soon.
