The New Eyewear Trends to Watch This Fall

Fall’s most coveted frames, decoded.

The right pair of glasses can change your whole face, make an outfit feel more put-together and add that little something you were missing. A simple white shirt feels different with a sharp black frame; a basic jeans-and-tee outfit suddenly has a bit more going on with a chunky tortoiseshell pair.

For fall 2026, eyewear is moving between extremes. Slim metal frames, oversized shapes, tinted lenses, rounded frames and playful colours have made eyewear become one more way to play with your look. You can switch them up depending on your mood, your outfit or even how much personality you want to bring to a look that day.

With so many shapes and styles around, your glasses can be just as much a part of your look as your jewellery or shoes. Here are the eyewear trends we’re keeping an eye on for 2026.

Oversized Frames

Big glasses are having another moment, but this time they feel less retro and a little more elevated. Oversized square, rounded and softly geometric frames give even the simplest look a little something extra. A black acetate frame with a crisp white shirt feels instantly pulled together, while tortoiseshell glasses with a knit and gold jewellery have that slightly more dressed-up feel. They’re the kind of accessory that can do most of the work for you.

Deep, Dark Frames

Black isn’t going anywhere, but fall 2026 is also making room for its moodier relatives. Chocolate brown, burgundy, deep plum and midnight blue are giving classic frames a softer, more elevated feel. These shades work particularly well in thicker acetate, where the depth of colour becomes part of the frame itself.

The New Aviator

The aviator is getting an optical update. Instead of the traditional teardrop shape, designers are playing with higher bridges, chunkier proportions and softer, more sculptural frames. The result feels familiar, but with a fresh twist, especially if you want something less expected than the classic aviator.

It’s an easy way to make a well-known shape feel a little different, especially in tortoiseshell, brushed metal or warm brown acetate.

Barely-There Frames

For the minimalists, barely-there eyewear is creeping back into the mix. Rimless, wire and ultra-thin frames feel light on the face, while little details at the bridge and temples keep them from feeling too plain.

The appeal is pretty simple, they go with almost everything. Wear them with a blazer, a cashmere knit or a stripped-back outfit when you want your glasses to finish the look without stealing all the attention.

Intellectual Rounds

The bookish frame is getting a fashion-girl upgrade. Rounded lenses, soft ovals and slightly squarer interpretations of the classic round frame are everywhere, bringing a little librarian energy without feeling overly prim.

This is where tortoiseshell, dusty pink, burgundy and translucent finishes come in. The shape may be traditional, but the colours make it feel distinctly 2026.
